|wearable art and mixed media|
I inherited my love of sewing and all things fabric from my mother. My enjoyment of quilts and quilting has manifested itself in my wardrobe. I have won many awards/honors for my wearable art and several of my works have toured the country with fabric company sponsored exhibits. I continue to lecture/teach at quilting/sewing venues.
I was born and raised in Madison, WI. I love the wearable art branch of the quilting tree. Creating clothing that showcases quilting techniques is my first love. The combination of texture, color, and embellishment guarantees one-of-a-kind results in my wearable creations. I particularly enjoy working with jewel tones and often incorporate turquoise (my favorite color) into my quilted garments.
Mixed media is a more recent obsession, sparked by a workshop I took at Valley Ridge Art Studio in 2007. In addition, I enjoy altering ready-to-wear garments and accessories.
I've been published in "Altered Couture" (2007: Winter) and "Studios" (2012: Spring). I was a contributor (of quilt blocks) to "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler", a quilt designed by Jennifer Chiaverini and published in two of her Elm Creek pattern books.
Other interests include birding, nature, travel, photography, knitting, felting, collecting fabric and lace, and, eating chocolate chip cookies. My latest love is practicing and playing my tenor ukulele! I reside in Madison, with my husband, Jim, and our joyful cat, Snickers.
